Valentines Past

Sinar Alpina, Caltar 210mm, f/11, Better Light Super-6K

In Valentines Lost, I was going for something beautiful but moody, smooth tones, lots of detail in the dying rose. I used the focus calculator on the Sinar to set a front tilt such that the focal plane ran from the foot of the vase to the most detailed part of the flower. There was also quite a lot of front fall and rear rise, as well as having the rail aimed slightly downwards so I could get the feel I wanted.

The Valentines Past image was an experiment in whacking the Better Light's ISO up as far as it would go in order to see what its grain would look like. This image was shot at something like ISO 2000 as regards the analogue circuitry, but I fiddled with the tone curve so it was probably more like 4000 or 6000 in practice. I know this is probably anathema to a lot of people, but I liked the look, so yeah, whatever. :-)
